Worth It Graphic

Why is Fort Worth ISD Worth It?

Fort Worth ISD is one public school system with everything your child needs in one place: college and career pathways, award-winning visual and performing arts, competitive athletics, free full-day Pre-K, and rich after-school enrichment across the city. From discovering their interests in elementary school to earning college credit and credentials in high school, students have real choices without tuition or gatekeeping—just opportunity.

Behind every classroom, concert, and game is a full network of support. FWISD provides a continuum of services for students with disabilities, multi-tiered academic and behavioral supports, and gifted and talented services to challenge advanced learners. School counselors, mental health and family resource centers, school-based health partnerships, and a comprehensive guidance program help students and families navigate both everyday life and bigger challenges.

Students are also cared for in the basics that matter: nutritious school meals, structured after-school programs, health and physical education focused on lifelong wellness, and around-the-clock safety and security teams who protect our campuses. No matter your child’s strengths, needs, or starting point, they are surrounded by adults who know them, support them, and expect them to succeed.

A public education that combines opportunity, care, and community—right here at home—is Worth It.

In Fort Worth ISD, students don’t just plan for the future—they start living it. Through our College, Career & Technical Education (CTE), Early College High Schools, and Gold Seal Programs of Choice, students can explore real careers, earn up to 60 tuition-free college hours, and graduate with the certifications and experiences employers and universities value.
  • Programs across 14 career clusters, from aviation, cybersecurity, and engineering to health science, culinary arts, business, and more.
  • 50+ Gold Seal pathways where students can earn industry-based certifications and dual credit before graduation.
  • Built-in internships, clinicals, and work-based learning with real workplaces and real mentors.
  • AP, IB, and Capstone options that connect advanced academics to hands-on career pathways.
  • One public school system with dozens of choices citywide. No tuition, no entrance exam, just opportunity.

A Stage, a Studio, and a Gallery in Every School.

Fort Worth ISD offers the city’s most comprehensive public arts program—where creativity is part of every student’s education, not just an after-school extra. More than 53,000 students are enrolled in visual and performing arts courses across FWISD, from elementary art and music to middle and high school band, mariachi, orchestra, theatre, dance, choir, and advanced visual arts. Students in the arts are more engaged, attend more regularly, and do better in school—and our programs are built so every child can be part of that.

Across the District, art and music are taught in every elementary school, with tens of thousands of students continuing in band, choir, orchestra, mariachi, theatre, dance, and visual art in secondary grades. They’re supported by over 400 certified arts educators and recognized on some of the biggest stages—FWISD has been named among America’s Best Communities for Music Education 12 years running and a TAEA District of Distinction five straight years, placing our programs among the top districts in the nation and in Texas.
