Fort Worth ISD offers several Gold Seal Schools of Choice with various areas of focus at different grade levels. These schools offer a smaller learning community of students with similar interests, all of whom applied and were assigned to the campus through the Gold Seal application process. There are several differences between a traditional school and a School of Choice:

1. Schools of Choice are not identified by a neighborhood.
2. Schools of Choice have a specific focus (Career and Technical Education, STEM, Visual & Performing Arts, Single‑Gender, World Languages, Applied Learning, or Montessori).
3. Students cannot apply to a School of Choice through the District’s transfer process.

Secondary Schools of Choice do not offer UIL athletics (with the exception of Young Men’s Leadership Academy, Young Women’s Leadership Academy, and Trimble Technical).

Gold Seal Programs of Choice are specialized programs that are located in a traditional elementary, middle, or high school campus. All programs are described in this publication, along with the college and career opportunities they provide after completion of the four-year high school programs. The students in these programs applied and were assigned to each campus through the Gold Seal application process.

Gold Seal applications open on Saturday, November 8, 2025, which is also the day of Choices Expo. Apply onsite between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, where we will have helpful staff available. Or, apply from home at your convenience, until the Lottery Priority Window ends on January 9, 2026.

Students who miss the Lottery Priority Window ending on January 9, 2026 will not be included in the Lottery and will need to wait to apply when the Gold Seal LATE Application opens in March. Student who apply to the Gold Seal Late Application will be added to the bottom of the Waiting List. August 10, 2026 is the final cutoff to apply for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Lottery Priority Window ends Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

Admission is based on a computer-generated selection process. Lottery applications are open from November 8, 2025 to January 9, 2026.

Students may select up to three (3) Programs on the Gold Seal Choice Application.

Seats will be awarded in early spring for the 2026-2027 school year.

Weighted ranking order

1. Students living in the school’s attendance zone

2. Siblings of resident students who are concurrently enrolled in the school’s Program of Choice
3. Children of resident District employees
4. Students living in the District but outside of the attendance zone
5. Children of non-resident District employees
6. Students living outside of the District

Lottery Selections

If a student gets into their first choice, the other two choices are canceled.

If they get into their second or third choice, they will stay on the waitlist for any higher-ranked choices.
For example, if they get their third choice, they stay on the waitlists for both their first and second choices.

If they don’t get into any program right away, they’ll be placed on the waitlists for all three choices.

Waitlist and Late applications

Students who apply after the Lottery Priority Window ending January 9, 2026 will not be included in the Lottery and will be added to the bottom of the Waitlist.

The Gold Seal Late Application will be open from March through August to fill remaining available spots.

Students will run through the lottery for all their choices.

FWISD transportation is provided to in-District students for Schools of Choice and Programs of Choice.

FWISD bus routes are determined by the student’s home address. Pick-up and Drop-off locations are at nearby Elementary and Middle Schools.

For the 2026-2027 school year, High School students may also choose to ride Trinity Metro buses at no cost; this is an optional service for students.

• Elementary Schools of Choice (SOC) and Programs of Choice (POC) bus stop locations will be at elementary school campuses.
• Middle School SOC and POC bus stop locations will be at middle school campuses.
• High School SOC and POC bus stop locations will be at middle school campuses.
